After getting drunk and sunburned in the hellish sun at Gwar B Q, come enjoy a more intimate heavy rager in the cool AC!! BAT is returning to the Strange Matter stage to release their debut LP "Wings of Chains" on Hell's Headbangers Records. BAT features current/ex members of Municipal Waste, DRI, Cannabis Corpse, Volture & Parasytic and play some of the most pummeling primitive heavy metal currently going! They'll be joined on this special occasion by Harrisonburg's finest and one of our favorite genre-bending thrashers EARTHLING who should have several new songs to unveil! RVA is repping hard too with two of our best local acts, the death-thrashers in VORATOR and the deathmetalpunx in Left Cross!!

Bat
Bat
BAT, the unholy supergroup featuring Municipal Waste guitarist Ryan Waste on bass/vocals, former DRI drummer Felix Griffin and Volture guitarist Nick Poulos, is very pleased to announce their recent addition to this year's Gwar B-Q in Richmond, Virginia alongside the likes of The Descendents, Cro-Mags, Ghoul, Ringworm, Child Bite and more! The band's Gwar B-Q appearance follows a headlining performance in Raleigh and serves as a precursor to a rare run of live abrasions through Richmond, Cleveland, Chicago and Pittsburgh in September.

Comments Waste of the oncoming onstage demolitions, "After finishing up our debut full length album on Hells Headbangers this summer, we in BAT are gearing up for a short run around some rad US festivals. The first being the Gwar B-Q in our hometown of Richmond, which is always wet and wild. Come September, we hit the road again to play in Cleveland at the Hell's Headbash. We're thrilled to play with our pals in High Spirits and Midnight on the opening night. Beforehand, we're cramming in another hometown gig and hitting Chicago and Pittsburgh to round out the Labor Day weekend. Come rage with us and always beware of the BAT!"

The Virginia/Texas meta punk marauders in BAT released their Primitive Age EP last year on cassette via Tankcrimes and on 12" vinyl via Hells Headbangers (already sold out!). Channeling the spirits of Venom, Hellhammer, Motorhead and Discharge, the EP features five filthy numbers of confrontational Kill 'Em All angst and enough vocal venom to level a nation. Said Last Rites of the offering, "This nasty little beast is a crust-a-licious demo-nic hybrid of ugly gutter thrash with a vicious punk spirit and a dose of injected blackness. Jump back thirty years to an uncomfortable-yet-awesome three-way between Cronos, Lemmy, and Tom Warrior (or, whatever, Satanic Slaughter) - then BOOM, BAT! A close 21st-century equivalent would be Midnight, only with less sleazy Satanic debauchery and more of an all-encompassing generalized rebelliousness."

A statement from Ryan Waste reads: "We could not of found a better home for BAT than HELLS HEADBANGERS. Not only does the label have a great roster and distribution, they still have their ear to the underground. It's important for us to put out everything we do on vinyl, and there will be no shortage of BAT wax to come. We're gonna hit the road hard and start laying down tracks in the studio for our first full-length this fall. Expect another nasty onslaught of pain from Nick, Felix, and myself to follow up our Primitive Age demo. Beware of the BAT because we are not slowing down."
Earthling
Earthling
Earthling began in the early 2009 as a project between Harrisonburg VA natives Alan Fary (Guitar/Vox) & Brently Hilliard (Drums). After several short lived line-ups the band solidified with Praveen Chhetri (guitar) & Jordan Brunk (bass). Having released two three song demos, a 7″ split and Extensive touring of the DIY circuit of the area, the band has crafted a crusty black thrashing heavy metal sound drawing influence from across the spectrum of heavy music.
Vorator
Vorator
Formed in late 2012 by Leland Hoth (ex-Battlemaster, ex-Occultist) and Harrison Steel (Corpsinator, Ravn, ex-Krieg) with the goal of bringing aggressive thrash metal to Richmond Virginia. 5 original songs written as a 2-piece, and a 4 song demo recorded in May 2013.

Full lineup as of June '13 with the inclusion of Dylan Williams on guitar and Matt Davis (War Graves) on bass.
